The accelerator’s second edition is now accepting applications for the next generation of African startups disrupting industries such as agri-tech, fintech, IoT and connectivity, machine learning, cybersecurity, clean-tech, and reg-tech. The Government of Senegal, through DER/FJ, a youth and women empowerment structure established by the President of the Republic of Senegal, is one of the cohort’s partners. Startups will gain public-sector knowledge and support with the help of DER/FJ, allowing them to scale their impact even further. The three-month program will begin in April, and applications will be accepted until January 28. Startupbootcamp AfriTech was founded in 2017 as the first pan-African startup accelerator funded by multiple corporations. It launched the Africa Startup Initiative Programme in March with Telecel Group, which aims to promote the next generation of early-stage African tech startups disrupting a wide range of sectors. ASIP aims to support young startups with innovative ideas that make a positive impact in their communities, and ten startups were selected for the first program in June. Selected startups receive $18,000 in equity funding, as well as $750,000 in credits, services, and in-kind value.
