Dorcas’s journey begun in her early 20’s.
Her passion was always to help by innovating using technology. She started out by building networks for universities, she was one of the first female engineers in Kenya. She begun building her own startups in 2004 where she founded an organization called AfChix for women and Openworld a software for e-government. The software took off while AfChix took off and even became a leading women startup. It encouraged young Kenyan women to join computer engineering careers which is what really led Dorcas to train many women in other African countries.
It is great to see that women have been breaking the ice in the tech industry.
For many years young girls have been advised to keep off the sciences as they are manly or too hard for women. Women like Dorcas prove that there should be no limitation for any woman, when empowered women are well able to create incredible change.
